It’s been almost 5 years since we moved to the current stables. It’s been great, mostly. I really love it there, but it’s time to move on again.
We are not riding anymore. Talo’s legs are tired, I’ve been feeling it for a while. We hang out, which mostly means Talo grazes while I watch. It’s fun, I love it, but I feel like Talo needs a herd and pasture more than he needs me. So, I found a sweet place for him, where he’ll hang out with four other horses, most of them are seniors. It’s not that far away, so I will visit, but my morning routine isn’t going to be the same anymore.
It’s incredible, really. I’ve been at the stables basically every single day. I can’t imagine my life without this routine, but that’s just the way it’s going to be. The new place is cheaper, obviously, but I won’t be able to have another horse at the moment. It’s too expensive. I think I might just take some lessons, and most likely they won’t be English riding lessons. I really want to try Western, with the trainer that helped Talo and me get back on track.
We are moving on Friday. I am a bit apprehensive, but I know it’s the right thing to do – for Talo.
We’ll see how it goes.
That’s it for now.
